Uganda Public Heath Fellowship Program – Field Epidemiology Track and Laboratory Leadership Program have won the 2024 coveted US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director’s Award for Excellence in outbreak investigation and public health response.

This was in recognition of the program’s significant contribution to Uganda’s successful response to the Sudan Ebola Virus outbreak in 2022.

The award was presented at the Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Conference during the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) International Night in Atlanta, Georgia, USA on 24 April 2024.

FETP International Nights, co-organized by the Training Programs in Epidemiology and Public Health Interventions Network (TEPHINET) and the CDC, provides a forum for the global FETP community to share their work and showcase the impact that FETPs make in public health. This is the 3rd similar award the Uganda Public Health Fellowship Program has won since its inception in 2015.
