Global public health awareness days aim to increase visibility, awareness and understanding of specific diseases or health conditions among the general public. They are key in highlighting the importance of healthy lifestyles and well-being among the general population. Each year, various organizations and communities around the world actively participate in promoting and supporting World Health Days.
World Hand Hygiene Day is celebrated on May 5th, World Hand Hygiene Day is a global public health initiative focused on improving handwashing practices. This day aims to increase understanding of the importance of clean hands in preventing the spread of infectious diseases. It serves as a reminder to individuals and healthcare providers to implement consistent, effective hand hygiene routines to protect public health and enhance safety in all environments. This year’s theme is “Action saves lives”.
