The Health Informatics Fellowship Program implemented by the Uganda National Institute of Public Health (UNIPH) in collaboration with the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH), is a two-year Postgraduate Full-time program aimed at building a skilled workforce to address Uganda’s evolving health challenges through data and technology.
By blending academic rigor with hands-on application, the program trains fellows to strengthen health systems,
improve disease surveillance, and support public health emergency response.
Through in-class expert sessions, peer-led seminars, bootcamps, INFO-AID field assignments, and a capstone research project, fellows will gain the practical competencies needed to design, implement, and evaluate digital health solutions across Uganda’s health sector.
Health Informatics fellows will be placed within the Ministry of Health and partner institutions, contributing directly to informatics improvements while learning on the job.
The program also promotes collaboration with other health fellowship tracks including; Advanced Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Leadership under a unified public health training framework.
This integrated approach will accelerate the development of a resilient, technology-enabled health system.
By equipping Uganda’s health workforce with informatics expertise, the fellowship lays the foundation for sustainable, data-driven progress and better health outcomes for all.
