Statement of Purpose
Field Epidemiologists without Borders (FEwB) was instituted and registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee and without Share Capital on 01 August 2016 under the Companies Act of Uganda 2012.
The objectives of its establishment are:
- To promote unity in diversity amongst the people who pursue any track on the Uganda Public Health Fellowship Program.
- To avail a platform for learning, innovation and acquisition of new skills and in the public health practice.
- To support activities, initiatives and programs aimed at promoting public health education and practice in Uganda and the world over.
The organization is the alumni association of the Uganda Public Health Fellowship Program and as such all members of the organization are either current residents or graduates of the Uganda Public Health Fellowship Program.
The diversity in background, education and skills of its members puts the organization in a unique position to foster improvements in public health in Uganda.
Members of the organization boast of more than 35 years of collective experience in public health work in Uganda and overseas.
Our mission is to advance quality field epidemiology through practice, research, capacity building and health program development.
Our vision is “Communities empowered to prevent, detect and respond to public health threats”
We are a team of field epidemiologists and laboratory experts with training by the Uganda Public Health Fellowship Program at the Uganda National Institute of Public Health. Our diversity in background, education and skills puts us in a unique position to foster improvements in public health in Uganda.
The scope of work we do includes, but not limited to:
- Outbreak investigation and response
- Project design and implementation
- Applied research including baseline and follow up surveys and qualitative research
- Capacity building in epidemiology and other areas
