Ebola outbreak response in Kampala District; Jan-March 2025

On January 30, 2025, the Ministry of Health (MoH), Uganda through the National Emergency Operations Centre received a notification of an Ebola Disease (EBOD) outbreak in Kampala City, Uganda following results of a post-mortem sample that was collected from a 32-year-old nurse that tested positive for Sudan Ebola Virus.

MoH deployed epidemiologists from the Public Health Fellowship Program to support the district in this Sudan Ebola virus disease outbreak response.

A total of 8 confirmed Ebola cases were mapped out in this outbreak which unfortunately spilled to Mbale and Jinja cities.
