The government of Uganda in collaboration with the U.S. government’s President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), DFID, and Global Fund have been implemented indoor residual spraying (IRS) in selected high burden Uganda districts since 2009. Indoor Residual Spraying has contributed to a significant decrease in malaria prevalence in children under the age of five and reduced malaria prevalence during pregnancy and at delivery hence the improved maternal and fetal outcomes. On September 8, 2022; the National Malaria Control Division launched IRS in the West Nile region during an advocacy meeting in Moyo District where key local government leaders where engaged. This scale up brings on board nine westnile Districts namely: Adjumani, Arua, Koboko, Madi-okollo, Maracha, Moyo, Obongi, Terego, and Yumbe. The PHFP was represented by Gorreti Marie Zalwango to highlight the malaria burden in the region to the key region stakeholders.
