Ivan Lukabwe
Health Informatics Fellowship Program Coordinator
Ivan Lukabwe is a Biostatistician working as Coordinator for the Health Information Track under UNIPH. He holds He holds a Master’s degree in Statistics (Biostatistics), PRINCE2-qualified practitioner. PGD (Monitoring and Evaluation), B.Sc. in Statistics.
Ivan Lukabwe has worked extensively with health management information systems both in the private and public sector with over 10 years at the Ministry of Health supporting health data management; electronic medical systems; monitoring, evaluation and learning at the National TB/Leprosy Program (NTLP) and STD/AIDS Control Program (STD/ACP).
He has conducted and participated in various national evaluations including UPHIA 2016/17 and 2020, PMTCT impact evaluation, UDHS, Food Security and Nutrition Assessments (FSNA); planning, and coordination of national strategic information as well as establishment and maintenance of results-based monitoring evaluation and learning (MEL) systems at the national level. Ivan has been involved in developing health sector HIV strategic and M&E plans, HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment guidelines, and creating national and sectoral management information systems.
He has also provided technical support to public and private sector institutions in strategic information use, M&E, research, data management, analysis, visualization and reporting. His contributions to science include Global technical consultations with WHO-Geneva to review methods and evidence available on measuring Mother to Child Transmission (MTCT) rates and the protocol of measuring MTCT rates, as well as authoring and co-authoring several papers, including one for AIDS 2014. Ivan has provided M&E technical services to various organizations, including Government of Lesotho-Ministry of Health, National Planning Authority, UNICEF, UNAIDS, Afya Bora Fellowship programme and the Africa Prisons Project.
