The Uganda Public Health Fellowship Program – Laboratory leadership (Uganda PHFP-LLP) is a 2 year post-master’s degree in-service training program implemented by Uganda National Institute of Public Health at the Ministry of Health with support from US CDC, MakSPH, APHL and Baylor Uganda. The goal of the program is to develop skilled and knowledgeable laboratory leaders able to build and sustain the national laboratory system to effectively and efficiently respond to human, animal and environmental health challenges in Uganda. The program has four components as it is based on the Global Laboratory leadership Program (GLLP) Curriculum. These components include didactic sessions, mentorship sessions, project implementation and community of practice.

Today, Thursday November 16, 2023, the program conducted an induction workshop for her six cohort 2024 mentors (Mr. Paul Okwalinga, Mr. Jackson Were, Ms. Martha Pedun, Mr. Richard Walwema, Mr. Rogers Kisame and Dr. Fred Monje) . These mentors will for two years support the six cohort 2024 fellows with their career path development and completion of their program deliverables. The facilitators of the workshop we drawn from UNIPH, NHLDS, US CDC and APHL. This workshop was graced by representatives of Director – UNIPH and Commissioner – NHLDS.
