With the ever emerging and reemerging infections only countries with a well-built and resilient public health workforce will conquer. On 8 September 2023, the Uganda FETP-Frontline graduated 25 competent disease detectives building capacity for a more resilient workforce at the frontline.

Graduates of the 22nd Cohort are from 12 districts in WestNile, Lango and Acholi sub regions: Amuru, Amuria, Arua, Gulu, Kitgum, Kole, Lamwo, Lira, Moyo, Nwoya, Obongi, Omoro and Terego. The training brought together officers from human, environmental and veterinary health fostering a collaboration of all aspects of health (one health) in the day to day running of surveillance activities.

The graduates have developed competences in detection and response to diseases and events of public health importance; reporting, summarizing of data, data analysis and interpretation, communicating information for decision-making and surveillance monitoring and evaluation.

As we train boots on the ground, we hope to tighten global health security and end every public health event at the source.
