Over the years, Field Epidemiology Training Programs (FETPs) across the region have worked collaboratively towards building competencies of public health workforces.
Collaboration includes information, knowledge, and experience sharing.Ms. Angela Umutoni, a US CDC Public Health Specialist supporting the Rwanda FETP is on a twelve-day visit to the Uganda FETP under the Uganda National Institute of Public Health (UNIPH) to share experience and learn from the program on successful implementation. The Uganda FETP has won 13 awards including the 2017 and 2021 CDC Director’s Award for Excellence in Outbreak Investigation and Response, an indicator of excellence in its implementation.Today, 19 th June, 2023, Angela met with staff of the UNIPH for a brief introduction. During the stay, she will meet with various program coordinators and departments to share detailed discussions from which either party can learn about various aspects of implementing FETPs.
