On 28th September every year, we observe the World Rabies Day to raise awareness of the consequences of human and animal rabies and how to prevent it.

Rabies disease is transmitted to humans from animal bites.

Rabies disease claims about 60,000 human lives each year.

The disease is prevented by vaccinating all domestic dogs, and vaccinating humans with anti-rabies vaccine when bitten by any dog.

Increased surveillance on unvaccinated pets and health education on responsible pet ownership are emphasized on this day.
