International day of epidemic preparedness- 27th December

Global public health awareness days aim to increase visibility, awareness, and understanding of specific diseases or health conditions among the general public; they are key in highlighting the importance of healthy lifestyle and well-being among general population. Each year, various organizations and communities around the world actively participate in promoting and supporting World Health Days.

The commemoration of this day emphasizes the urgent need for resilient health systems to combat the devastating impacts of infectious diseases, as seen during the COVID-19 pandemic. Global health crises disproportionately affect the most vulnerable populations, highlighting the importance of raising awareness, sharing information, and promoting scientific collaboration. To prevent future epidemics from exceeding past outbreaks, a One Health approach; integrating human, animal, and environmental health is essential.
