During the month of September, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Awareness Month seeks to enhance the lives of women impacted by PCOS by fostering public comprehension of the condition and advocating for early diagnosis and effective management.

PCOS is recognized as one of the most prevalent hormonal disorders affecting women of reproductive age and is linked to various complications, such as infertility, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and mental health issues.

In 2019, the global point prevalence of PCOS was estimated to be 1,678 per 100,000 women, with an incidence rate of 59.8 per 100,000.

Since 1990, the prevalence of this condition has increased by 30%. Despite its significant effects, PCOS frequently remains undiagnosed due to insufficient awareness and limited training among healthcare professionals.

Enhancing public and clinical awareness, investing in research, and ensuring access to diagnosis and treatment are essential steps in tackling this escalating health issue
